Ohio Wildlife Watch

Work in progress: The survey and map are active, and we are continuing to add detail, improve both tools, and develop new pages about wildlife disease.

Live Map

About the idea

What is it?

This map reflects the real-time additions to sightings of potentially or confirmed ill wildlife across Ohio. Explore the locations to follow emerging health concerns, spot patterns, and better understand how wildlife health is changing in our communities.

Who is it for?

This data aims to support wildlife disease research, public health planning, conservation work, and faster responses to emerging risks. It is intended for researchers, wildlife rehabilitators, veterinarians, public health officials, conservation groups, landowners, educators, community partners, and residents who report sightings or want to understand how wildlife health affects Ohio communities.

Why did I make this?

Through my personal and professional experiences, I have seen how easily wildlife health concerns can go unreported. Many people do not know where or how to share what they observe, while the researchers, conservationists, and community members who want to understand these reports may never hear about them. This tool is intended to bridge that gap by making wildlife health information easier to report, find, and use.
